It takes approximately six weeks to receive a commission check from the sale of a reverse mortgage, so one must be able to sustain themselves financially during the time it takes to establish the business.

Reverse Mortgage Statistics
        The increased volume in these types of loans have been fueled in part by an increase in the number of elderly homeowners. In the federal fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2005, more than 43,000 federally insured reverse mortgages were made nationwide, an increase of 14 percent from the previous fiscal year, according to the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association.
        It's a product being marketed to 20 million seniors who own their own homes, holding about $2 trillion in equity. One thing for sure, the potential customers in the years ahead will be endless, since Americans life longer and the baby boomers will be reaching age 62 in a few short years. The future demand for this product is going to be phenomenal.
